Abstract:
»Sexual violence ranks second in the types of violence against children. The goal of this work is to make a diagnosis in the cases of sexual violence registered at the Police Station Specialized in Assistance to Women in the city of Bento Gonçalves (RS, Brazil) from 2014 to 2019, with the intention of identifying the most frequent characteristics in cases of sexual violence, taking into account the data obtained from police investigations. This is an exploratory study, using a quantitative and qualitative analysis method based on data obtained at the Police Station Specialized in Assistance to Women. This study concluded that females are much more likely to be a victim, and that the mother is the communicant with the highest percentage of occurrence; the majority of cases take place within the family environment in neighborhoods on the outskirts of Bento Gonçalves; moreover, the suspect in most cases has a low level of education and claims to have a regular economic situation. By identifying the most frequent characteristics of crimes, their perpetrators and victims, we can provide information in order to expand knowledge about these crimes, laying a groundwork for formulating preventive action strategies.«
